Hear From Our Host Families

Hosting for ACE International was an incredible experience! We had the privilege of hosting Arthur, a student from France, and it was truly awesome. Arthur was such a sweet and enthusiastic guest who quickly became a part of our family during his time with us. He loved spending time with us and especially enjoyed my husband’s pancakes, which became a morning highlight! The communication with ACE International was seamless—they kept us well-informed about activities and updates throughout the program. My son absolutely loved having a 'brother' for the summer, and the bond they formed was so special. Hosting Arthur was a heartwarming and enriching experience, and we’re grateful for the memories we made together! 

Last summer, our family had the incredible opportunity to join ACE's foreign exchange student program, and we welcomed our first student, Louis, from France. From the moment he arrived, Louis immediately became part of our family, and it turned out to be a truly wonderful experience for all of us, especially for our two sons. Through this program, we not only had the chance to learn about Louis’s culture, but he also shared in the daily rhythm of our family life. When he wasn’t off enjoying the fun and exciting adventures that ACE had planned for him, we spent quality time together. One of the highlights was seeing our oldest son join Louis on ACE’s day trips, which created memorable experiences for both of them. By the end of the summer, Louis wasn’t just a guest in our home—he was family. We are thrilled that he’s planning to come back this summer to stay with us for a month, and we absolutely can’t wait to see him again. Thank you, ACE, for giving us this amazing opportunity. It has enriched our lives in ways we couldn’t have imagined!

Working with Ace International was a great experience. We hosted a foreign exchange student from France that turned into a lifelong friendship. Not only did we get to learn about a new culture, but our family grew so close to our students that we even visited them in France. This experience has truly enriched our lives in ways we never expected.

Last summer we hosted two French students with Ace International for the first time. Both sessions were great. It filled our summer with new experiences, meeting new families and friends. My son connected with both boys so well and now he is hoping they will come and visit us again. It's amazing that just within the three weeks the kids become a part of your family. It enriched my life in many ways, and I've learned a lot of new things about French culture and people. Trisha is amazing with helping with any questions or concerns. So happy my friend introduced me to ACE last year.

My family and I had a wonderful experience hosting exchange students from France last summer! The communication we had with Trisha and her family in preparation for the students was excellent. The communication the entire time during their stay was top-notch. They responded quickly to any questions we had, prepared us well for our guests to be comfortable, and provided a clear and detailed itinerary - and all the necessary information - for the students to fully enjoy their time here in North County (and in California as a whole). I would highly recommend Ace and highly recommend hosting! It’s a great way to expose your family and children to other cultures, and to open your home to a fun and memorable experience with some great students. The boys we hosted were polite, kind, and spoke better English than we anticipated! It was a really fun and educational experience for our family!

I attended a homeschool expo where Ace International had a booth. One of the other vendors highly recommended hosting with this amazing organization. My son was against it, but I knew that it would benefit him in wonderful ways. I am a widow and my 15-year old son is an only child. By the end of our first session, my son considered our student to be his brother. Then my son didn’t want us to host for the second session, and once again by the end, our student had become another family member. Given how much we love the 2nd Amendment, we brought each young man to the gun range, and witnessed such joy in their partaking of our blessed liberties here. It was a beautiful blessing. During our second student hosting, we had two of the young men, who had befriended our student, come for dinner and stay overnight. In taking the two young men back to their San Diego home, I was blessed and honored when one asked me en route, how to restore his faith, and he shared a very personal painful testimony with me. Through our discussion, his faith was sealed and I was able to point out to him the miracles that he was given, amid the pain. In France, it is unlawful to evangelize or disciple someone. We have such an opportunity here, to do God’s work. And the young French are hungry for the truth. The next day I learned this young man went to church with his host family, raising his holy hands high and worshiping our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as he had not done for many years. This was a beautiful unexpected gift from God, and that young man will be forever on my heart.

I was told by a friend about hosting students from France for a few weeks in the summer. I have never done this before and thought it might be a good experience. I ended up hosting for a chaperone and it turned out to be a great decision. I truly enjoyed her company and had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful students and adults. With this, I decided to offer my home again this summer. I am looking forward to another adventure!!

Hosting our French exchange student was such a wonderful experience. It not only gave my whole family a glimpse into French culture, but also helped our family create lasting memories over the summer. Our exchange student was incredibly kind, smart, and eager to be a part of our every day family life and learn what life looks like here! Trisha and her team go above and beyond to place students in the best fit for both parties, they are there to support you every step of the way! It was amazing to see how sharing our everyday lives with someone from another country opened our eyes to new perspectives and deepened our appreciation for diversity.
